Marking its final completion, the final turbine of China's Three Gorges dam has been connected to the power grid. This was the last of a total of 32 units of 700-megawatts each, which now has brought total capacity up to 22.5 gigawatts, according to a report in the London-based Guardian. Three Gorges accounts for 11% of the country's total hydroelectric capacity.

Russian anti-narcotics chief Viktor Ivanov has again asserted that only through a radical top-down transformation of the current global financial architecture can the world succeed in winning the war against the international drug cartels.

While the “Pacific Orientation” does refer namely to those Pacific nations, such as Russia and China, who have been taking leadership in pushing for real, physical economic development, as well as challenging imperial strategic policy, such as the crucial role which Russia has played in keeping the Empire’s hands off of the Syria war trigger, it also implies the role which the United States, also a Pacific nation, could play as part of that Alliance were we to change our tune and abandon the bankrupt Transatlantic system and its suicidal “principles."

Construction of the central route of China's South-to-North Water Diversion is now going into high gear, two years ahead of this section's original deadline.
