The LaRouche Plan
The Basement Project
On Tuesday, March 12th, the upper house of the Russian Legislature, the Federation Council, held a special session which resulted in the passage of a resolution on asteroid defense. Here, we highlight some of the strategic context, and the discussion from the special session which led into this important resolution.
On February 15, 2013, the world was gripped by the largest asteroid impact in over 100 years. While much of the media is covering the event as such, there are larger issues being posed. The defense of Earth has been a subject of concern for many years, but we were just shown how shockingly unprepared we are to handle these threats.
The revived SDI, now known as Russia's Strategic Defense of Earth, is a strategic flank to the current threat of world war. But the implications go far beyond nuclear deterrence, and allows us to make positive scientific breakthroughs in cosmic phenomena in the large and in the very small.
Barack Obama's expansion of the Patriot missile batteries into Europe poses a threat to Russia; the policy of the Strategic Defense of the Earth, offered by the Russians, can change this dynamic altogether.
The "Strategic Defense of Earth" concept, originally proposed six months ago by Dmitri Rogozin, has received renewed attention over the recent weeks from individuals close to president-elect Putin, whose official inauguration as the next President of Russia is scheduled for this coming Monday, May 7th. It should be seen as no coincidence that this increased attention to the defense of earth idea coincides with major coverage of the ideas and personality of Lyndon LaRouche, the original author of the SDI, the model for the SDE.
