Obama Demands Budget Cuts

In a speech to the nation Saturday, President Obama said the administration will "examine every entitlement," and that he has asked every cabinet member for measures to cut the budget for their departments.

In line with economics boss Larry Summers' statement Sunday about a large component of current health care being "of no benefit," the President announced the appointment of Jeffrey Zients to be Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and chief Performance Officer. Zients, tasked with cutting costs in American health care, was previously chairman of the Advisory Board Company, which advises health care providers on "rationalizing" their costs**an operation which reportedly made Zients a multi-millionaire.
