Crazed Ben Bernanke Lies Like Mad

It's beyond absurd, the near-constant refrain of "we're turning the corner, things are getting better" that is being repeated over and over by the bubble-heads, while the economy collapses around their ears. It seems the worse it gets, the more these fools try to convince us—and themselves—that we're on the road to recovery. Reading the official statements, the stories in the press, and the commentaries of the pundits, it's clear that they are both completely divorced from reality and shameless liars. They would rather let the nation die than give up their delusions.

Take the case of Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, who told a real whopper to Congress today. "We continue to expect economic activity to bottom out, then to turn up later this year," he told the Joint Economic Committee. "I think we are in far better shape than we were in September and October," he added. Bernanke also defended himself against the charge that he and then-Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson had leaned on Bank of America CEO Ken Lewis to hide from the bank's shareholders the losses B of A would incur with its purchase of Merrill Lynch. "I absolutely did not in any way ask Mr. Lewis to obscure any disclosures or fail to report information he should be reporting," Bernanke testified.

What we need here is not spin control, but indictments. Bernanke is lying, covering up the dire condition of the U.S. economy. Sure, certain types of financial activity have increased lately, but that's because the Fed has been pouring trillions of dollars into the banks and the securities markets. When you spend trillions to get billions, it's hardly a sign of progress. As for the financial disclosures, let's get serious, Benny. The banks, especially the big ones, are lying through their teeth about their financial condition, and you wouldn't have it any other way. If the truth were told, they'd all have to shut their doors, and you'd have some serious explaining to do about where all those trillions went.

Bernanke is lying, the Obama Administration is lying, the Congressional leadership is lying, they're all lying while the nation collapses. It's time to tune them out and listen to LaRouche. We need solutions, not B.S.
