Summer Shields, candidate for the Democratic nomination for the 8th district of California released the following statement today:

December 23, 2009 (LPAC)— The recent proposal made by Russian Railways Minister Vladimir Yakunin, in the December 19 issue of The London Express, to construct a rail link connecting the United States and Russia, across the Bering Strait via tunnel, must be accepted immediately by the government of the United States. Yakunin further elaborated that plans are already in motion to extend rail links into the Arab world, South America, Africa, and China, as part of a global network of interconnected rail. This is the manifestation of the "World Land-bridge" project that Lyndon and Helga Zepp-LaRouche have fought for, for years.

Yakunin's challenge comes after the fraudulent deindustrialization agenda pushed at the UN Copenhagen Conference in the name of "climate change" was successfully defeated, with India and China playing a crucial role. This proposal is a continuation of the recent long term agreements reached by Russia and China for building critical infrastructure projects, such as rail and nuclear power plants, and, must be the gateway for further collaboration between the United States, Russia, India and China, against the system of globalization. This new Pacific Ocean centered collaborative effort among these nations is the only exit strategy for freedom from supranational control of the world's economies. In that context, California, in its capacity as a leader of the Western coastal United States, should play the pivotal role in shaping policy for this collaborative effort, for the next 50-100 years to come.

If Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is unwilling to take up Yakunin's optimistic and feasible mission, then she should remove herself from any policy making position within the United States government and retire, now, before her constituents find out.
