"As some recent developments in scientific studies have demonstrated, the clearest example of that same universal principle of Classical poetic irony as we encounter in the work of physical science, is presented to us in the most deeply-rooted treatments of the work of Bernhard Riemann, as in the attention to his work by the scientists Albert Einstein and Academician Vernadsky. This lies in the work of Einstein and Vernadsky, considered here, as being the subject of the ontological, rather than merely formal implications of the tensor itself." - Lyndon LaRouche, The Substance of Tensors: The Ontological Matter
This feature video presents Lyndon LaRouche's concept of the physical tensor, an essential aspect of what he has established as a science of physical economy. This concept challenges the underlying problems of belief in sense perception as reality that pervades modern society, by posing the idea of the physical tensor as a transformation which occurs between mental images. This latter quality of thinking is what LaRouche has defined as necessary for the long-term successful survival of the human species in accomplishing a Moon-Mars science driver mission for mankind. The most apt case study of the physical tensor, as repeatedly indicated by LaRouche, is German physicist Karl Gauss's method for determining the orbit of the asteroid Ceres, in 1801. To approach the concept of the physical tensor as illustrated in Gauss's case, you will be familiarized with the important precedents in astronomy: man's early mappings of the celestial sphere, and Johannes Kepler's creation of a new astronomy, based upon his idea of a solar driven system.
The Gauss basement group (see the Narrow Path page) has continued their work on developing the concept of the tensor, as first hinted at in Gauss' method for determining the orbit of Ceres. A comprehensive video is posted, and we also offer here an earlier, initial overview of the tensor concept, by Sky Shields, and a simulcast discussion between the members of the Gauss basement group. Enjoy.
introduced by Lyndon LaRouche and narrated by Sky Shields. This short video is a brief introduction into the significance of the project to discover how Karl Friedrich Gauss discovered the orbit of Ceres.
The basement team discusses the progress of unraveling the discovery of Gauss' discovery of the orbit of the asteroid Ceres, centered around Gauss' insight into the invariant, or universal, between various mental maps of the same physical process. The specific application of the concepts of curvature, as well as the physical tensor are elaborated in this context. In addition, the asteroid belt, the space time differential, and other related ideas are developed.
