Statement from Diane Sare, LaRouche Democratic Candidate for US Congress, NJ’s 5th District

Our nation is facing the worst crisis in its existence. The economy has disintegrated, real unemployment is at record levels, and we are on the brink of a thermonuclear showdown with the nations of Russia and China, who would rather be our allies, while our President, Barack Obama spends his time playing basketball, or watching videos of people being killed by US drones overseas. On New Year’s Eve, Obama signed the Hitlerian NDAA into law, allowing for the indefinite detainment of US Citizens, on US soil, without trial. Furthermore, there is no candidate on the Republican side who is qualified to lead our nation, or even willing to discuss in public, the nature of the threat we face from continuing to allow this deranged president to remain in office one more day.

This is why I am a member of the LaRouche Slate of candidates campaigning across the country for the US House of Representatives. I will be running in the Democratic Primary in New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District. Our nation is beyond party and beyond local elections. The unemployment in New Jersey is just part of the unemployment in the nation, the foreclosures in New Jersey are just a part of the national picture, the same with the flooding due to extreme weather, the decay of our infrastructure, and the lack of a vision for the future.

Therefore, only a national policy will work. On July 25, 2007, Lyndon LaRouche warned that the entire global financial system was at its end. He proposed the “Homeowners and Bank Protection Act “, which would have put a halt to foreclosures and restored the Glass-Steagall separation of commercial from speculative banking. Numerous major city governments and state legislatures endorsed this proposal as a solution to the crisis. Instead the Bush Administration’s Hank Paulson, along with Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA), and former Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), began the bailout policy, which under Obama has exploded to $29 trillion, with the catastrophic results you have experienced! This insanity must stop now!

What is needed is an immediate return of our nation to the Hamiltonian system of credit. The first step in this is the reinstatement of Franklin Roosevelt’s original Glass-Steagall Act. This would allow trillions of dollars of debt to be dumped back on Wall Street and the City of London, as opposed to the backs of the American People, and our cities and states. However, even with these trillions of dollars of gambling debts wiped out, there is no way to launch a recovery with the slim amount of actual wealth remaining. Surely, it would be absurd to think of funding NASA, or building 500 nuclear power plants, and 3000 miles of high speed rail, by increasing property taxes, or killing off the sick and elderly with the elimination of Social Security.

Under Glass-Steagall standards, and with a National Bank under the US Constitution, the government can utter credit for urgently needed great projects, and necessary bailouts of our cities and states to keep vital infrastructure and life-saving programs funded. This is why, after the American Revolution, Hamilton famously declared, “A national debt is a national blessing.” He understood that money per se has NO intrinsic value, and that the best kind of debt was that which contained within it the means to its extinguishment. (ie not bailouts, but investment in the physical economy) The question is, are we creating the conditions today, so that future generations will be more prosperous, live longer, and be better educated than we are now? If the government is not committed to that idea, then what is the point of having a government? If Presidential or Congressional candidates are not committed to the principles stated in the Preamble to the US Constitution, why are they running? It is time for you, the voter, to stop tolerating mediocrity and downright treason. Join with me, and the LaRouche Slate to rescue the future.
