Latvian Member of the European Parliament Tatjana Zdanoka called on her fellow MEPs to support her motion for the European Commission to put the Ukrainian Right Sector (Pravy Sektor) on the European Union's terrorist organizations list, according to ITAR-TASS.

"The responsibility for dealing with the Right Sector will be that of the Ukrainian authorities," said Zdanoka, who is from the Latvian Russian Alliance. "They must draw a clear line between the political parties and the radical organizations." Zdanoka added, "Ukraine has in the ranks of its government radicals, who have fascist beliefs and who have committed violence against their opponents and law enforcement officers."

She charged that Right Sector "militants burned alive 43 Ukrainian supporters of a federalist Ukraine," in the Odessa Trade Union Building. She demanded that the government "smash the extremist organizations, disarm militias, arrest activists and prosecute them." Zdanoka's appeal was sent to all Members of the European Parliament.
