Prince Charles Backs Queen Mummy's War Plan, Compares Putin to Hitler

The heir to the British thrown, Charles Prince of Wales, added to the horse-faced Queen's war plans by telling a woman in Halifax, Nova Scotia, who had lost relatives in the Nazi Holocaust: "And now Putin is doing just about the same as Hitler."

The incident has become an international scandal, because the Royals are not supposed to make public statements about political matters. The Telegraph called it a "well-intentioned but unguarded comment," when it is obvious it was anything but. The Daily Mail, which reported the incident, said that Charles was "surrounded by media" at the time he made the comment.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg defended Charles, saying "I think he is entitled to his views."

The popular Russian daily Moskovskij Komsomolets (MK) said Charles's remarks risked "triggering an international scandal". Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov, asked by Sky News about the incident, said the kremlin was "not commenting right now" on the story.

Anti-Russia activists in Ukraine praised Charles's remarks. "Good old Charley," commented one contributor to the Facebook page of Euromaidan.

Charles is scheduled to meet Putin at the D-Day commemorations in France on June 6.
