Obama to Absent Congress: I'm Notifying You I'll Be At War Indefinitely

Obama broke off his golf vacation to return to Washington Sunday and Monday, consulting from there with "allies," primarily the Queen's David Cameron, and then notifying Congress that he planned an escalating war in Iraq for the foreseeable future — Iraq War III. U.S. air forces conducted as many as 30 bombing/missile runs on Sunday in support of what was clearly an offensive campaign by Kurdish peshmerga, and Iraqi "Obama government" forces, to take back the Mosul Dam and even the city of Mosul. U.S. Special Forces and Marine "advisors" are no doubt with those forces.

At a press conference at 4:00 p.m. Monday, Obama said, "This is going to take time; there are going to be many challenges ahead...Let me be clear: We are not reintroducing thousands of U.S. troops back on the ground for combat operations," Obama greatly expanded the scope of what he claimed he was not (yet) doing, in order to claim not to be doing it. But he is now far from the "targeted, limited" so dear to some Democrats last week, and he is past the legal deadline at which he had to get Congressional authorization for any continuing military action under the War Powers Resolution.

Obama claimed he had "notified" and "consulted with" Congress about this unlimited escalation. The White House sent a "notification" of new objectives "to Congress" on Sunday; but Congress is not in session.

The lead had been given to puppet Obama, as usual, by the British Empire's Cameron. The British Prime Minister's escalation article in the Sunday Telegraph referred to a war that "will not end in my lifetime" but which required escalation. With the BBC on Monday, Cameron reiterated Britain would "not send an army in to fight on the ground in Iraq", but would escalate with weapons supplies, advisors, and air support.

Obama's Aug. 17 "notification" which he imperiously and unconstitutionally claims is all he's required to do, went to House Speaker John Boehner and Senate President Pro Tempore Patrick Leahy. By staying out of session and campaigning for a vague, more aggressive escalation in Iraq, Boehner's rotten Republican leadership is making this illegal war escalation easy for Obama.
